Batteries overheating can be the cause of fire and burns. These incidents are a reliability issues. Sony should consider finding a solution so people around the world could rely on them once again.

This will affect Sony as a firm, sales will drop since less people will trust the firm for producing quality goods, also sales will fall. Other firms like Dell and Toshiba that are using Sony batteries will also choose to go another way since they wont be able to trust Sony for producing quality batteries. This problem occurred many times before, and is still occurring and if a permanent fix is not found then Sony will lose valuable customer faith in the firms quality goods and therefore choose to go in another direction.

Fony (sony) really need to start sorting out reliability issues, they are heading at the wrong direction. It is a good sign that they are calling laptops to be fixed, but what is the point fixing it when it will break down the next month. This is me talking from my hideous experience with the Sony repair centre in Doha. My laptop broke down three times in 7 months.
This specific case causes a reliability issue as Sony is a world reknown company, and is considered to be one of the best at developing technology. For a problem which has been ongoing since 2006, this would question Sony's ability in developing laptop batteries and would lose the trust of many consumers in the market. It's a reliability issue that Sony need to address and take into consideration when building more laptops. They should also repair customer's laptops without charging a fee in order to maintain their reputation and allow people to feel safe when using a Sony product. The incidents when people received minor burns is also a problem which Sony should look into and make sure that something like this does not happen again in order to sell more Sony products and make people feel safe. There are always problems going on in companies where they mass produce one item, and the problem is that if there was a default in one there is definitely going to be a default in way many from the same production year. This is what has happened to Vaio. They put wires close to things that heat up and caused the problems, like the heating up of the screen. This has ruined some of the reputation of the company and therefor people might change their laptops.
this is a big problem and show sony's unrealibilty and irresponsibility in its product. this could discorage thegeneral public from ever buying a sony product again. a lot of people could stop trusting sony and the company will lose many of its major inportant busines clients. unless sony finds a solution to this problem it should not sell any of its products. sony needs to make sre its products are safe especially so it cannot be sued because that will be bad for the company's finance.
