Since the GPS technology has become very common among individuals, this can have a big impact in business, especially in the transportation sector. For example, a customer would be able to track his/her belongings when a particular product is still being delivered. Thus, it give a huge improvement in terms of service. therefore, it creates a trust between companies and customers. The result of this of course, would be more and more buyers of our day will shop online.

This article discusses about the satellites that they are trying to develop in order to build up the GPS system. This can give an impact in terms of business, for example tracking devices or tracking delivered packets. It can build up trust and gains the companies developments. Today's world is all about shopping online and depending on the internet, and that is what the course is implying.

Its a good thing that Europe is building its own Satellite-navigation system called Galileo. In my opinion i think that this is a good thing to do because know they are improving it, and the users benefit enormously from the agreement between Europe and the US. Therefore there will be more people will shop online.

The new satellite, Galileo is made to improve the current GPS system overall and even give out a free service. The big advantage of this system is very reliable and useable in almost anywhere from GPS devices and give out a free service, which pulls more people to the GPS service.

The article discusses the impact of creating more than one satellite to increase the GPS system and make it stronger and more reliable. As the GPS system mainly comes from the USA so increasing and having more than one satellite will make impact on the business particular in the transportation. This will make it easier for the society as it give them a good reading. Right know there is only one satellite you need at least four of five to get the GPS working. I believe that having more satellites will make the tracking system stronger.

The GPS technology has become very common among peopel in our days. and now you can find A GPS system everywhere. Cars , Boats and even Mobile Phones. Thus the Europeans are thinking about expanding the Gps system and making one of thier on. this might help the Business but it also gives an extent to the custumers whom use the GPS system because it provides them with Security.

This new systems of satellites is going to improve the accuracy of GPS systems. This seems to be a very important technology today, because gps is not only being used in cars and transportation devices but is also spreading to cell phones and many other systems. This new development will have a major impact on buisness because you will be able to see hrough gps where things are that are being delivered to you. This will make costumers much more aware of where there product has been and the reliability of the company delivering it.

Gps has an iportant and crucial role in society. Europes indipendance from american technology shows the rising power they posses. politicaly a country or a union must not depend on other countries, where it may not be reliable. These satellites may expand the use of gps. privacy is a major issue with Gps as people are able to moniter your location.for instance car companies may track your car and know where is your location at any time.

GPS technology has become a necessity that now people use it in cars to get around and in other transportation. It has now been introduced in some mobile phones which would help people to locate where they are on the map and to look for the nearest places that they may be interested to go to. This will also help the businesses when working with shipments and deliveries because it makes it easier for people to locate and track their packages that are being shipped therefore knowing when it will be delivered.

Galileo is an alternative satelite-navigation system to GPS which is controlled by the US. The issues addressed in this article is reliability and control. The EU will now have their own nav-sat system and will no longer have to rely on the US to provide them with their GPS services. GPS has proved to be unreliable and inconsistent as it does not work at all times.

There have been many advancements in technology since the introduction of GPS and therefore the EU will provide a more accurate and reliable sat-nav system as they can work on and improve the problems that GPS has had.

The impact on society is that people, especially in Europe, will no longer utilize and rely on GPS and will switch to use Galileo as GPS has proved to be unreliable and insufficient on many occasions. If Galileo proves to be a secure and reliable system then even people who are reluctant to change will begin to utilize Galileo.

The introduction of Galileo will allow and improve issues involving the quality of access as well as safety. Comparing to the GPS created by the United States, the Galileo project is far more reliable in terms of continuity and interuption. This improves usage and gives confidence to users who wish to pay for these services. Most importantly, this project improves safety amongst users - such as airline industries who may at times fly planes in the air relying on sattelite images as guidance. However, the issue which will arise from this is a matter of globalization, as the EU have stated that the services will not come free like the use of a GPS. This will take time to sell through the market and to users worldwide despite its quality of access.

The increase in the use of GPRS in the world means that the companies providing it are making it relaiable.this is helping businesses alot by encuoraging businesses to open globally and to improve their services. it also provides better penetration for indivduals. however there is a problem behind it, were now people can be easily tracked with GPRS and this is an integreity issue and people are going to be losing thier privacy as well....

Galileo is goint to be a global network of 30 satellites providing precise timing and location information to users on the ground and in the air. Its costs more than 1.5bn euros.
I think it probably is worth it, if it's as useful as they make it out to be.
but since we can't see how it works out until 2010, it's just a tad bit stressful, because maybe it might not work out after all and the money and effort will simply go to waste. Even though other people might see it as a good experience or research of some kind.
It definitely has its risks, but if it works ut in the end, it will benefit many people.

GPS users will benefit from this development, especially with transportation. A lot of people are beginning to depend on GPS when traveling in their cars. Built in GPS systems are almost a must now in the latest cars. The only issue here is reliability; since GPS was initially made for the US military, the US military may switch it off whenever they feel like it since they are in control. Even though there is a small chance this will happen, when customers trust in their GPS systems and the system gets shut down, the trust between the buyer and the company will be ruined.

I think it is a great idea that GPS technology is offering new and innovative satellite navigation system. Gallileo will offer the customers and enterprises new ways of tracking down mails, new information being delivered. This article involves the issue of reliability because people will start to trust this new way of locating particular items. (Mails)

GPS has benefited to a lot of factors in modern day technology, like air navigation, tracking from a birds eye view, and land navigation of vehicles. It is vital for a lot of essentials and is probably one of the most important factors affecting society. Since the hole world uses the United sates satellites for their own purposes it isn't very reliable when you are not in control of the technology you are using. So, Q&A have decided to build its own satelite called Galileo.

I think that Europe is having its own separate satellite system called Galileo is not because only to improve networks but also built as a competition against the United States of America. Galileo is going to be a worldwide network of 30 satellites that provides precise timing and location information. This new GPS system is going improve the precision of GPS systems. GPS systems are now used everyone and in all kinds of transportation. They also exist in almost every piece of technology such as laptops and mobiles phones; so by developing a new and improved GPS system who knows what the future can hold.

This article is discussing Galileo which is going to be a network of 30 satellites which would provided very accuurate information involving timing and location information to users on the ground and in the air. The Gallileo project, will be even better than the GPS ( used in the States) having a higher caliber of precision; it would be much more accurate as well as mobile. The Gallileo would have many features, such as 'Guardian Angel' to help find lost children, or tools to help toursists as they walk aroud in cities. The issue which would comply with this article is privacy. By having such an in depth and invasive piece of technology available, this creates isssues with secrurity and privacy.

Saba Singh said...

Gallileo seems like a very useful project. Not only is it more accurate than the GPS, it also gives people the initiative to come up with new business ideas. It could possibly alter the definition of transport and communication for good. The scale of the accuracy (below one meter) is astonishing. But despite the fact that thiks is extremely useful, politically, it could be, according to some people, an invasion of their privacy since this technology enables people to look into buildings!

It is stated in the article that the GPS which is created by the US military also means that the US is still in ultimate control of it. This satellite navigational system, Galileo that Europe is building is is a chance for them to step up, a chance for them be in ultimate control of their own creation, likewise with the GPS of the US Military.

The reliability difference of GPS compared with the service Galileo of galileo makes a huge difference. In the article it states that soon Galileo is intended to be a civil system. Eventually, it is likely it will be run by a private consortium and will offer guaranteed levels of service. Unlike the GPS, which the service is free but its continuity and quality come with no guarantees.

It is also stated in the article that Galileo, like GPS, is a passive system; it cannot of itself track individuals. So we can rest assure that privacy cannot be invaded by anyone...

Look out GPS!! Galileo is on its way!! Hahaha...

GPS technology has become highly common amongst individuals around the world nowadays. It would help improve the state of things around the world like business, transportation mostly in the area of airplanes and also communications. it will also crate trust not only between companies but also between other individuals and customers around the world. One may argue that the outcome of this would be more people will divert to shopping for things on the net.

The Galileo project seems to be a very beneficial project it will support Europe along with other parts of the world and offer more accurate and reliable data to its users. The reliability of this project is the reason it is being made, due to the fact that they can not rely on the US the EU must rely upon them selves in order to have control over their own constellation of GPS satellites. As GPS in growing in popularity more people will rely upon it and will not settle for inaccurate information, the Galileo project will offer both accurate data and reliable data almost at any given time and place.

The new Galileo navigation system is considered as a huge step in technology field
It will help improve the world in various ways and in all fields for example, it will improve transportation like cars, planes, trains, and even ships.
It'll also improve civilians lives and the way they communicate.
It will also develope the tourism in the world. Finally, it will help the police and the hospitals in locating the people who need help.
However, despite these major benefits, the Galilo new Navigation System can also be considered as spying device.

On the other hand, the european union will have a technology that matches the US GPS system which creates compitition.
Also thinking about who actually runs and controls the GPS system?
the American military and having one country controling such a huge amount of information is seriously dangerous.

The passage mentions that Galileo is being launched becase of political reasons..the EU will have their own GPS system and will become independent. On the other hand it is a big waste of money as the GPS system market is already in the hands of the American GPS system and doesn't leave much space for Galileo.

With the EU launching Galilao residents in the EU will be able to have a more reliable satallite-navigation system. This will also give EU residents alot more conifdence in the system they are using.

GPS is a very important tool that is used by a lot of people worldwide. There are a few who even rely on it to get from one place to another each day! The new Galileo technology is much better than the GPS and it looks like a really innovative one. It would be very useful in the future .

This article speaks about the Galileo project which costs 1.5bn. I think it is a good thing that Europe is gonig to launch its first 30 satellites in space. This is going to be huge step for online shopping. Because people could tarck their products online using GPS.

Currently at least four or five satellites in order for GPS to work. I believe that having more satellites will make the tracking system stronger. GPS is not only used in cars and for other transportation possibilities but it is now also used in mobile phones making it easier for people to get around. The introduction of Galileo will allow Europeans to have a more trustful source of information. As shown in the article, the US system (GPS) has proven to be untrustworty and therefore the Galileo project can allow Europeans to have a more reliable source.
The article however does invovle the issue of globalization, as the GPS system was available for free; the Galileo will be charged for.

The rise of this project is important for us, there must be some sort of competition in own satelitle-navigation other than the GPS . Apparantley Galileo is a global navigation satellite system currently being built by the EU and European Space Agency. Galileo is going to be a civilian system that allows anybody to use it. There are also political advances to Galilio’s project, for instance: it can be designed to provide location signals of signals of the greatest possible accuracy to military users, while also providing location signals to civilian users.

this article discusses GPS systems, where it would have a great impact on the people in the society and businesses as well. The IT issue which affects this article because is quality of access and another IT issue is reliability, because people will need to and depend on, like in cars, and and businesses. Because there is only one GPS sat. it would be a problem if something goes wrong with it, a way to solve this problem, is by having a back up system.

Europeans launching satellites to improve GPS connectivity and spread accesibility is what the Galileo project is about.
disadvantages, Galileo is accountable to many governments within Europe.
how reliable are the satellites? because Galileo costs so much, Europeans should be sure that it can provide its consumers with quality of accessibility. Also, because it is their first project, they should built a back-up in case Galileo has a short life span or technically breaks down.
the advantages are that the system is bring created to provide a free GPS connection from anywhere.
It is possible not a good idea for Europe to spend so much money on a project that will only serve on region and are not sure how it will launch as well as how popular it will be.

The Galileo project is a network of 30 satellites which will provide information on location to users both in the air and on ground. The article states how Americans have complete control on the system, and although the GPS services are free, they are unreliable as its continuity and quality has no guarantee. Therefore, the ethical issues and imapcts on society that become prevalent with this issue are most obviously, reliablity, but also equality of access. There is no back up system which will take effect in case there are any faults which randomly occure. This can only cause an increase in insecurity and lack of trust in the system for its users.

Galileo is a global navigation satellite system currently being built by the European Union. The project is an alternative and complementary to the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS) and is is intended to provide more precise measurements than available through GPS.

"The better penetration, accuracy and guarantees of service should also give many more entrepreneurs the confidence to build business plans around sat-nav." Therefore, policies must be enforced to promote appropriate use. Social or technical rules and conventions that enable compatibility and therefore facilitate communication should be developed by governments of EU.
