The article talks about "Ultrasound to give feel to games" I think it is a great idea that in Japan they came up with the idea of sense and sensibility when people play video games. It is a good opportunity that people have an innovative entertainment idea. This will not only benefit the costumers but the companies because they will have more variety of games not only 3-D but also sensible games. One of the great advantages is that people won't need any other hardwares to wear or hold; now playing 3-D games is more real and easy.

This article discusses the rise in 'hijacked' computers over the last year. The methods of online criminals have changed over the last few years, according to the article, with many no longer sending viruses to individual computers. Instead the new age of hi tech criminals infect popular websites which then contaminate visiting computers enabling them to take full control of the machine - an act of recruitment. Obviously this is a security threat as personal information can be stolen from users and, in most cases, may possibly lead to identity theft. Another issue of concern is reliability on the behalf of the website creator. As claimed in the article, these 'traps' are placed into popular websites which resulted in threefolding the number of hacked computers. With such popular websites being visited by more than a million users on a daily basis - administrators should provide secure levels of protection. This maybe an issue financially for them however, it is not comparable to the amount of damage faced if such acts of online 'recruitment' are allowed to continue.

This article disscuses a Virus called Zombie. This zirus is controlled by high-tech criminals who send use the virus to infect other computers and with those computers they can infect websites which will then infect any user to visit that site. Over the summer the number of computers infected with this zombie virus grew rapidly. this is a definate problem in technology because it shows how vulnerable we are to hackers and outside sources gaining out information stored on our computers. though this may be a good thing for virus protection companies because this rise in viruses will cause people to start buying more anti-virus products to ensure the safety of their online data.

This article tackles the issue of reliablity where it has been seen that the ipod's batteries are overheating cause the ipod not to work properly and get damaged.
the article adresses the issue of reliability were the society can not relay on the batteries provided in the ipod and neither can Apple relay on the batteries suppilied by their suppliers Sony. it also adresses the issue of globalisation where not only is Apple going tio be affected by the faliure of sony batteries but all the other firms that get supplied by sony. to resolve this problem, Apple ought to find itself another battery supplier in order for the sales not to decrease and sony should go over the technology of their batteries inorder for them to maintain its sales and reputation. As for the customers, they can buy different products that have been prooved to be more effiecent until this problem is resolved.

Apple admits iPod Nano 'overheat'

Apple admits that their new generation IPod Nano had several problems with its battery; which lead to some overheating and in rare occasions it fails to work or might catch in fire. Although there has been no serious injuries IPOD have to deal with this matter as quickly as possible since there is the threat of casualties.
The technical problem of this was traced from another source which is the incidents that have been occuring with the Sony battery laptops; which were lithium-ion-batteries and these batteries being not properly placed could lead to overheating and eventually cause a fire.
The ethical problem of this is reliability. Ipod sales are through the roof because of it's well relaible brand but after incidents like these there might some arguments weather they really are that reliable.

Google has been saving user data for the last 10 years and now people are taking action towards it. Privacy controls must be implemented in Google. Dumping the personal data is an essential step to gain more trust from public users. From the beginning Google shouldn't record user’s data as it may trigger large protest and distrust. Yet, Google seemed to use these day as much as they can to earn money before they dump it due to the EU pressure.

Article: Apple unveils 'thinnest iPod yet'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7607280.stm

Apple is one of the largest companies in the world, and one of the leading companies in the computer industry. Last night Apple's share dropped by 3 percent. It has also just released the thinnest ipod yet, the new ipod nano. The ipod nano is convenient because of its size, shape and storage space. This area of impact that this article addresses is Business and Employment.

Apple is an innovative company constantly creating inventions or developing previous inventions of their own. The impact this has on society is that unemployment rates will decrease as companies such as Apple provide jobs to people when creating a new invention.

Apple's Ipod nanos' have overheated in the past due to faults in the battery and therefore customers might question the reliability of the new ipod nanos. This article addresses the issue of equality of access as not everyone will be able to afford the ipod nano. The ipod nano will also not be available in every country once it is officially released. The release date for the ipod nano differs from region to region.

http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/08/11/two-weeks-after-apple-calls-mobileme-stable-mail-goes-down

This article discusses Apple's new technology named MobileMe, where people can sync their mail, contacts, calender, photos, and more, to MobileMe, which would automatically sync with their Mac/PC/iPod/iPhone.

The issue concerned with this article is reliability, as MobileMe is facing many technical difficulties and problems with their new widely used service. MobileMe's mail server, which could be carrying users' very important mail and information which they would need to access regularly, is not functioning successfully. This situation causes people to question MobileMe's, and Apple's in general, reliability, as it is making them believe that this service is not as glorious and reliable as they made it seem.

Similar cases to this have been when Apple released the iPhone 3G, and many people were facing huge reception problems, only due to minor software issues.

This can have a very strong impact on society, as day-to-day services that people heavily rely on are not as reliable and secure as they assumed them to be. It can also have an effect on society where people start not trusting these services due to their past experiences, and the use of such services would drop.

A way to fix, or at least improve such situations, would be to test these services more before officially releasing them to the public's use, and not release the service until they feel that any bugs later discovered would be minor. Even Steve Job himself said "We should not have released MobileMe at the same time as the iPhone 3G"

After the Japanese government began investigating a battery defect on the Nanos, Apple has admitted that a battery default had led to a small number of Nanos overheating. There have been two reports so far of the Mp3 player overheating setting paper on fire. So far, Apple has been a reliable company, producing things to a wide and vast range of consumers. This is a reliability issue that Apple needs to address. Apple added that any customer that's worried about their device bought between September 2005 and December 2006 should contact customer services. Lithium-ion batteries, which are used in iPods, have been blamed for a series of fires in laptops, which resulted in global recalls. In 2006, Apple was forced to recall some 1.8 million lithium-ion Sony-made laptop batteries that were prone to overheating.

This article discusses apple's most popular object: the i-pod. Apple has recently enhanced and developed the latest version of its i-pod nano, featuring what it says are the thinnest measurements yet. Steve Jobs described the new i-pod nano as being "highly recyclable". Since the creation of the i-pod seven years ago, Apple has sold more than 160 million ipod. The i-phone has also been re-designed with better features this time. This new improvemnt will make the i-pod and i-phone even more popular. Also instead of picking only a few colors for the i-pod nano, to give people a wider variety of choosing the comapny decided to make i-pods with all the colors. Unfortunately Apple's share price is actually falling more than 7 points during the course of the event. Many could say that these products are evolutionary with some revolutionary new features. Apple i-pods have overheated before and maybe this new and improved i-pod will not include that fault. Apple still continues to enhance its product and remain one the most popular electronic companies.

"T-Mobile to Offer First Phone With Google Software" due to the rise in the mobile technology companies are creating more advanced technology, by enabling people "to access the Internet and perform computerlike functions." This issue will make mobile phone companies to associate with internet companies and possibly compete against them. "cellphone carriers and manufacturers, agreed to provide devices which, like personal computers, allow users to decide which applications run on them." Not only will they be able to access the internet mobile phone owners will be able to download applications. This freedom that allows the owners to individualize a phone’s functions will helped increase the popularity of the Phone.

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TECH/08/28/microsoft.broswer.explorer.ap/index.html

The article is about letting people surf without leaving a trace.
It makes surfing the net much easier and safer. If the computers in computer shops has the new microsoft browser installed in their computers, its going to give people privacy with details of their internet usage. I think this browser is great, since if your going to let other people use your laptop or computer PC, and if you only have one PC at home and 4 people using it, it avoids people from invading your privacy. If you went to a bank site and left it without logging off, the next person to use the computer would be able to see the things you went thru the internet..

Not only that but the article also said that this new browser helps different types of ads appearing all over your desktop. Which is great, it makes surfing the net much easier.

The thing is people are still having second thoughts about this web browser since it says in the article that if it stops different ads from appearing it will bring down the Web ad marketplace.

But in the brighter side, it will stop all those horrible pop-up ads from appearing which makes it easier for everyone. I think Microsoft should continue with this plan!

NYC's 911 system upgraded to accept photos, video

This article talks about the New York police department enhanced service of accepting photos and videos from cell phone. This is a very important upgrade since criminals can be caught easier by sending a photo of them. The older version was drawing the criminals and that might not be as accurate as a real life photo, so this technology will hopefully be used internationally and crime fighting would be a much simpler job.

This article talks about how the arline industry, particularly the ones in the US are planning to install WIFI network onboard. The plan was originally suggested by Boeing but was cancelled due to the lack of demands and other technical problems. This is a huge advantage for airline passengers as they can interact with anyone in the world through the messenger for example. Also, it can have a huge impact in society since Internet connects everyone in the world. As a result, the world is becomming a small village. Therefore, conversing with individuals while travelling could save time a lot of time for investors because internet can will be available for them. Through this, we can observe how international bussiness improve through better communication within investors.

Facebook unveils new look with a new approach ..
This article I find interesting because I am very fimilar with Facebook as I'm sure everybody else because it is famous around the world wide. As people get used to one layout of the page on the internet, or account they use everday, and daily in their lives, it will be hard to change to another one. Facebook at the moment is heading to a new approach which involves a new layout. The new look of facebook is quite unique but at the same time I find it quite confusing since I'm used to the old layout look. However, because of it's fame, people will still visit facebook and the number of views will still rise because as known it is the best social network there is.

The article is about mobile phones. The mobile phone industry is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary. The short-range, portable electronic device used for mobile voice or data communication over a network of specialized base stations known as cell sites. These standard voice function of a telephone have additional services; such as SMS for text messaging, email, packet switching for access to the Internet, gaming, bluetooth, infrared, camera with video recorder and MMS for sending and receiving photos and video. Nowadays most current mobile phones connect to a cellular network of base stations (cell sites), which is in turn interconnected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) (the exception is satellite phones). Since the introduction of mobile phones, concerns (both scientific and public) have been raised about the potential health impacts from regular use. Numerous studies have reported no significant relationship between mobile phone use and health, but the effect of mobile phone usage on health continues to be an area of public concern.

The article explores the development of a new technology that was considered to be unthinkable 20 years ago. It is an elongated tunnel that has the ability to collied two protein particles to recreate the beginning of the world. They are doing that to try and unfold the mysteries of the world, whilst discovering how the entire universe came to be.
Te fear of this experiment is that the society around it are questioning its safety, they are also insinuating that it might be able to put an end to the whole world. They fear that by recreating the events that happened millions of years ago, that the results would be devastating and would cause a bombing that destroys plant earth.

The article talks about the Ipod nano overheating but they say it is only occuring in 0.0001% of all Ipod nanos. This is a major problem for a big company like Apple. I don't think they put-in as much time as they do in a porper Ipod than a nano thus causing problems that could have been prevented earlier. This is a major reliabilty issue the same thing sony has with their 373,000 vaios having an overheating problem. Apple is a very trusted company and such small problems could cause major decline in sales in the "nano" part of the Ipod family if not the rest of Apple.

The article discusses the issue of identity theft through the Internet; and how simple and easy it is to get a hold of a person's identity.
The article adresses the issue of privacy. Through an investigation, the article demonstrates how easy it is to gain an individual's personal information and afterwards misuse it.
Ideantity theft also has a big impacit on society, created by the increasing number of this crime.
A way to prevent this from spreading even further, is to educate and inform the society of how dangerous this crime is, and how easy it is to commit. Each individual should then be responsible for making sure their personal information is kept as confidential as possible, and that things such as passwords, vary from document to document.

The article, ''Tough choices' for UK broadband' is about how the UK has a tough choice in installing fibre-based broadband to every UK home. the estimated cost of this procedure is around 29 billion pounds. the next best ting, which would be to take the fibres to street-level boxes would cost 5 billion, which is also a lot. The UK wants to offer people in urban and rural areas the access to internet since it would benefit communities around Britain. But the problem is that it would cost them a lot of money to do it, and it might not seem worth the money to do it. There is talk of an alternative thing as everyone believes that the government won't provide this kind of money for broadband.

The impact on society is that this nano is great for the enviornment, it is recycable and they also have arsenic free glass, this would mean that more customers would buy this product and people would want to use an enviornmental friendly product, this would fall under ethics. Another thing is that the nano is a small item and can be carried anywhere and it can fit anywhere.

Google accused on privacy views

This article is about how privacy does not exist in the Google world. Google has a photo-mapping system in cars fitted with cameras to catch images of real-world locations that are added to its online maps. This even includes the licence plates of cars and even the name of the next door neighbour's security company. This is prove that Google has some issues with privacy and it is a problem that Google need to consider closely and stop interferring into the private lives of individuals. After a lawsuit Google decided to remove the pictures of the couple's house but this still means that people do not trust Google with their information. Even though seeing real world locations can be beneficial to many people so that people all around the world can see how different locations on the earth look however, Google can not afford to invade people's privacy.

For a few years, Verizon Wireless and AT&T have concentrated on meeting the needs of younger generations with their technology in terms of getting in touch with their friends. Now, they are targeting a wider range of people.

Both companies stated that new applications will be offered which will make it easier for customers to see and monitor their social networks through a single source on their cell phone. The service is called “SocialLife,” and it costs $1.49 per month.

This will benefit consumers because the ''SocialLife'' is cheap. It will also be beneficial for social networks since more people will be able to access those sites 'on the go'. Because these applications will be offered, consumers will purchase more mobile phones related with AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
Accessibility will become easier and quicker since anyone can go check their social network and keep in touch wherever they are, which is convenient since they don't have to be sitting in front of a screen.
This plan is very smart and will benefit the two companies in the long run.

Google to dump user data earlier

Google Moves to Protect User ID's from their search records over two years old by trimming IP addresses off user log files. This means that the computer IP address is being dumped, which previously contained old user search records stored for past searches. The company says it needs this information to improve its various services and to help fight threats such as fraud, and malicious attacks.

The issue addressed in this article is protection of users privacy as information about themselves is not shared with others. I suspect this is more to preserve space in stored data than entirely about protecting privacy. But either way the result is the same - the move protects privacy of Google users. Why they insist on keeping newer information if what should be scrutinized. It is definitely a move in the right direction toward privacy protection.

On top of that they invest their profits back into the company so that they come up with more things such as their recent browser and earn even more. This will help provide the people with better electronic services. Google is also trying to come up with things which benefit society. These include medical, educational and business benefits. Apart from this they are trying to solve the energy crisis.
