I think that yahoo is idea of adding internet widgets on TVs is a great idea. Although i think its hard to keep the widgets on the TVs up-to-date, because it wont be as easy to keep to date as on the laptops because it requires internet connections, and if TVs are going to use internet connection to keep up-to-date therefore it will require a really good connection to the internet and will require to be hooked up with ADSL internet to get a fast connection so that it dose not keep stopping...So in fact the idea of having internet widgets on TV is a great idea, however there are some points to take into consideration while developing this idea.
This seems like a very inovating idea. By putting web applications on peoples TV's it will give them more options and more freedoms as to what they want to be viewing. Though the problem with this might be that you can only access a few things on the internet such as weather, which may not interest many people. If they were to provide full access to the internet on our tv's their would defiantly be much wider interest in the product. Though the idea of downliading movies straight from the internet to your tv will defianatly bring in many buyers for this new program.
i think that this new invention is revolutionaray because this allows people to access internet features while watching tv. this invention can lead to many more other breakthrough creations. but because this is so new there could also be some problems with it. for example the TV will need to have a very good internet connection in order to be up to date. also this could give people more choices in what they want to watch on TV by using the internet if they cannot access it on TV. therefore i believe this new widget idea is innovating.
This article addresses the issue of equality of access as not everyone, people in LEDs and people with a low income will not be able to access web applications on their tv as they can not afford it. The article also addresses the issue of globalization as this new function on tvs will enable people to communicate with people all around the world and receive information from different countries from their television.
The alliance between Intel and Yahoo have rasied the bar in the development of entertainment and the presentation of media. By creating and merging the abilities of television and internet, they have managed to compact key features of both forms of media to create a hybrid. This however raises several issues, one of them being the quality of access. Both Yahoo and Intel are large companies well reknown in the world of computers and the internet, however the goal is merging such features with a televsion thus questioning their quality - whether or not the system will operate successfully. Another issue is globalization, this is a problem due to areas which do not necessarily have internet access and therefore rendering the hybrid useless.
I believe that the introduction of internet based services in channels will allow people the freedom of choosing between thousands of gadgets while watching TV. Not only will it benefit the viewer but it will also help business advertise their products on TV through the internet gadgets introduced. People from all over the world will be able to choose what they want to watch on TV and they can access it easily. It will be more convenient and reliable for the viewer. Globally it will benefit everyone as people will be introduced to things they weren’t introduced to before and will be able to view it on TV without having to access it online.
This idea of adding widgets on Tv is genius, because it helps us multi-task and if people get bored of watching TV they can always check the weather or the time. This technology is helpful for people and it actually is a new and fresh idea which people haven't heard of before, or put the two together. Keeping up to date is vital for Yahoo since it has really powerful competitors to look out for.
introducing an internet based tv is a new and ambitious project. there are many advantages that an internet carries such as direct information from weather channels and daily news. yet there is also a risk of virus attacks. since there will be a weak security hackers would imediatly target these tvs. this could be a very big security issue.
The fact that people can access internet while watching TV gives new ways of entertainment; this innovative idea provides people with facts such as the weather forecast while they are watching their favorite program. Intel and the TV enterprises will benefit as well since people are looking forward new ideas such as downloading movies and other programs. Also issues such as globalization since in some places people don't have access to internet; but it will clearly benefit those who have access to internet since they can do it just when they are in front of the TV; people wont have necessarily to buy a computer just to check some websites
By introducing the TV to the internet, Intel is bringing functionality to the TV. Though it's mentioned that there's a limit to what you can access because it will not be exactly like the internet, the viewers are said to be able to choose from thousands of widgets and applications making their viewing experience more enjoyable.
This article is talking about Yahoo having widgets that are updated and brought by the use of internet, however this idea faced problems before but now they have this new chip that can broudcast whether reports, etc on a small corner of the TV. This would be an amazing change for the users of TV's and since there are more and more lazy people the creation of this new idea is great and has a strong potential if it is handdled the right way. The Main Social issues here are Reliability, and quality of access. Nowadays, it is easier to rely on major improvements in technology, and i believe this one is. however there might be problems with hacking what people are watching in their homes, and this is to do with people's privacy. The last Social issue is quality of access since this is making information easier to be accessed from one less device, which is the TV. people will not need to get up and check wether report or whatever but now they can do that while watching TV.
"Viewers will be able to choose from what is expected to be hundreds of thousands of widgets, or web applications." by giving the viewers a chance to shop online and check-out the videos on demand. This rise the issue of globalization, and how they want to expand the market yet some parts of the world don't have internet, therefore how can they afford internet through TV which will require a strong connection (secure ADSL line) and how one company is going to dominate that market. It will have a great impact on society watch the program while browsing the internet. This will force the new generation to multitask and get use to working on more than one objective at a time.
Internet based TV is an invention which utilizes the Internet to provide viewers with more than just simply plain television that is being broadcasted through the satellites. Internet based TV is a useful invention for the reason on the quality of access. As stated in the article, "With TV available in more than 1.3 billion households worldwide there was no doubt about its ubiquity". In addition, according to PC Magazine, today, and Internet connection is more accessible than a live satellite connection, allowing more people to have access to television.
However, Internet based TV has highly questionable reliability. An Internet connection involves many components; from the provider of the Internet TV, to the main server, to the viewer's Internet service provider. And it is very common for one of these components to face a problem from time to time, which will result in bad connection. However, for live TV, the connection would be straight from the TV channel studio, to the satellites, to the viewer's TV. Hence, making a live TV connection a lot more reliable than Internet TV.
Accessing the internet through the TV is a very unique idea which will merge two of the largest markets in the world. Intel is a very known and reliable brand which is used by most of the people in the world when using PC's so by using their intelligents on creating a new chip used specifically on T.V's, instead of their usual PC based chipset's, it will enhance the way T.V;s work. Although this introduction will be innovative there will be some reliability issues on the fact that it might be difficult to actually use.

This seems like a smart idea. Putting web applications on peoples TV's it will give them a variety of options and freedom concerning what they see on TV. Nevertheless, a problem of limitation might occur, for instance one can only access news or weather, this in turn may not satisfy everyone. If the access would be less restricted then there will be more audience that are willing to try this new product. In other words, the applications shouldn’t be very limited, or else, not many people will become a fan of it.

Personally, I think that this is a great idea. Introducing internet based services in channels is a great way to offer people thousands of different gadgets while watching the television. This puts many of us to an advantage; business will be successfully advertising their products on it. However, it is mentioned that there’s a limit to what the viewers can access so this can be a disadvantage although this can be ignored since it makes up by offering more than any other company has offered. Also, the connection can be a problem since it is not a direct connection from the TV channel studio to the satellites, but a connection from the internet as well.
I believe that this is an absolutely amazing idea by Yahoo to bring in widgets to television sets. The problem is that it isn;t as easy as it sounds, since to keep the widgets up to date or add new widgets, the television set has to be connected to the internet. another problem woul be that it wouldn't work on any normal television set and it would be used by very few people since the technology involved with the widgets requires a television set of high quality from companies like Samsung and Toshiba.
"It will be able to handle high-definition viewing, home theatre quality audio, 3-D graphics and bring net connectivity to the TV." By putting web applications on TV's it will give people more options and more freedom to watch what they want to. The issue here is equality of access because not everyone has access to the internet because they can not afford it. The article also addresses the issue of globalization because people will be able to communicate with people all over the world. This may be a good or a bad thing because there are various viewpoints about globalization. Globalization has already affected many people's lives because of what we see, what we eat and how we act so maybe the fact that these web applications are related to the issue of globalization may not be a good thing.
The article explores the new alliance between Intel and Yahoo to offer a new and advanced internet server that provides a richer and easier internet experience. The article revolves around two issues. The first is Globalization, seeing as though this new internet server will be available world wide to be accessed by everyone who is in need of an improved and a more advanced internet experience. The other topic that can be linked to the article is equality of access, seeing as though pooper socio- economic levels will not be able to access that server and benefit from the new advancement.
Yahoo joing with Intel seems like it will be a great expansion to the tv company. People being able to access things online means information, such as the weather, will be able to be updated much quicker than it would on tele-text or such things. It would also give the view's a lot more choice, which is a great demand in todays society. There is the issue, however of the equality of acess. The internet is not acessesable in or not as commonly acessesable in certain lesser developed countries. This would make it extreemly difficult for people living in these countries to have the internet on their televisions.
this seems like an interesting idea, having the internet on tv is something that would make people watch more tv. now that the internet is taking over and people dont need to watch tv because they are able to download everything on the internet. however by having the internet based tv, people will find it much more interesting, things can also be viewed in a bigger way. an ethical issue would be reliability. would this internet based tv actually work. would it as fast as the internet is alone? it might make everything slower. people might just prefer to use the internet reguarly and not on the computer. many problems can occur
Yahoo and Intel getting together to make widgets on TVs is a very good idea. It helps people check the weather and all sorts of things without getting out of their chairs. I have only two problems. The first is that there is nothing wrong with regular weather news and I think it would attract more people to TVs and make them sit longer wich is not good.
Intel and Yahoo have formed an alliance, allowing them to combine the advantages of their past products, share their ideas and overall have a more thurough analysis of what is needed for their new products to be successful. They have joined together to create a new product which combines the qualities and functions of a TV and the World Wide Web. The main issue concerened with this new product is globalization. The comanies will have problems selling their product to places where wireless is not available, thus making the product useless. This also involves the issue of equality of access.
Bonding the internet with television is a smart idea, if it actually works. A problem with all these knew machinery that are coming out right now most of them either don't work or are too complicated for an ordinary person. An Ethical Issue to consider here is Reliability, does the chip work or does straight away or does it have to be re-programmed and add-ons. With this chip being new will can it be useful and work without any problems and faults?
by Intel signing a deal with Yahoo to enhance the way people use their TVs by adding internet applications, it will produce more like a 'two in one' application to be accessed. this means they can access the TV as well as the Internet with almost no interference. it will let users/watchers to send emails, trade shares and check the weather without moving from their sofa. it will be convenient because of that fact that it will run on Intel chips which are only for web-connected devices. one down side is that it costs more to advertise on the TV than it is to advertise on the web; and everyone will see the same ad which is a disadvantage for companies who actually have a specific target market. overall this idea will be beneficial to yahoo and Intel as well as it being convenient to users while watching TV and needing to use the net.
I think the idea of merging internet and television is one which will be convenient and accessible, but not necessarily popular. Its great how Intel chips designed specifically for web-connected devices will make it possible to do multiple tasks at once, yet not interfere with regular TV watching. On the aspect referring to advertisement, I do also agree that internet advertising will become more effective than those which are posted in newspapers etc. Even after all the advantages however, certain things will need to be taken into consideration including ethical issues such as globalization and reliability.
Yahoo's new Internet based television has the potential to provide universal access to entertainment and services regardless of distance, age...etc. For many years, IT has played a major role in reducing these boundaries however, this does not include people of lower socio-economic classes who cannot afford the Widget Channel offered by Yahoo.
Another issue addressed is cultural diversity. News and important events would be broadcasted almost immediately on the internet for the world to view. Although this may provide a worldwide awareness, it may cause less cultural diversity.
