Sorry about the previous comment, I pressed publish comment by mistake! Anyway, you know, Virtual Worlds these days are becoming a really big thing. Sites like Second Life, Haboo and many others are giving people the chance of basically running a different life than their real life. With options like being able to create an avatar that looks like you, to building the mansion of your dreams, you are basically able to do anything on these sites. Although this seems like it is a lot of fun and could be seen as a mean of entertainment for people, you know, this poses a really big issue in privacy. You know, people abuse this privilege of being able to build a second life, and that is when problems occur. However, if people do not abuse these games or online virtual worlds, this could be one of the best means of entertainment ever!
The issue presented in the article is of equality of access and globalization because this is happening at the moment in real life. For example through games such as second life, where you create an avatar that looks just like you or who you want to be and you get to play or live life virtually through a game. These games are very realistic and have all the components of the real world except it is virtual. These games are accessible to anyone who purchases them and has a computer. It shows globalization because this game is played all around the world.
A virtual world is a computer-based simulated environment intended for its users to inhabit and interact via avatars. These avatars are usually depicted as textual, two-dimensional, or three-dimensional graphical representations, although other forms are possible[1] (auditory[2] and touch sensations for example). Some, but not all, virtual worlds allow for multiple users.
The computer accesses a computer-simulated world and presents perceptual stimuli to the user, who in turn can manipulate elements of the modeled world and thus experiences telepresence to a certain degree.[3] Such modeled worlds may appear similar to the real world or instead depict fantasy worlds. The model world may simulate rules based on the real world or some hybrid fantasy world. Example rules are gravity, topography, locomotion, real-time actions, and communication. Communication between users has ranged from text, graphical icons, visual gesture, sound, and rarely, forms using touch and balance senses.
Virtual world is becomming more and more common in the 21st century as large number of individuals now rely heavily on technology for their own purposes. The idea of using virtual worlds can have a postive impacts on areas such as tourism because it can provide travellers with more detailed and visual information on specific locations. However, there can be a negative impact towards society psycologically and might raise issues such as addiction. As a result, a user of this virtual world can loose their sense of real life because there are many possibilities where users at a very young age considers virtual life as "Real Life". Therefore, virtual world is only useful to users towards a certain extent and the value of it is depending on how users of today use it.
Creating virtual worlds that replicate real-life areas is a major trend in technology since sattelite pictures in google earth and other programs which show a flat picture from top to actually bieng able to see exactly how it looks in a virtual world. This feature also pulls more people to technology because, as the article stated, it helps them discover new locations and help them imagine how the real place looks like. But this also raises the question of how will people react to these virtual worlds as they can say "why would I pay thousands of dollars to go there when I can just fully discover it from my computer?".
The idea of having a virtual you following the real you around may seem rather strange. Users are encouraged to create avatars that look just like them so they'll be recognised and to use their real names. this can provide travellers with more detailed and visual information on specific locations.A negative impact towards society psycologically and might raise issues such as addiction.

As society is being more and more connected with their computers it seems very reasonable to allow them to gain access to a virtual world which is identical to the real world allowing them to be in two places at once which allows th users to enjoy the environment of a city like Berlin , in the comfort of their own homes. this has been used for many "virtual" games, which is a major trend.
