Linux and Ubuntu operating systems seem to be spreading more around the world but it's equality of access isn't quite made for everyone as it is advanced and not everyone is familiar with how it works. Even though they're free, they are not globally known as all computers bought today include Windows and Mac OS in them, so there is no reason for people to reinstall a new operating system that is quite similar and risk the chance of reliability, as it might not work and probably not knowing to operate it as good as they do with Windows or Mac OS.

The rapid and vast development of Ubuntu can really threat the future of Microsoft as a monopoly provider in terms of providing Operating systems for computers. Some view the use of linux as outdated, however because of its cost alot more people are using it for basic functions. This question the matter of reliability, users would strong Operating Systems to handle complex programs and software and it isn't determined whether Ubuntu is capable to that extent yet. There are many developments towards Buntu, but users must question about how significant these developments are compared to Apple and Microsft. Also, the trust between people and machines can touch this area since Ubuntu can expand the working environment for businesses in the cyber world since everyone would have access to Operating Systems especially Linux since it is offered for free.

I agree with Shadi. I think that Linux and Ubuntu aren't as widespread as Microsoft and Mac OS are. For example, someone like myself, who often keeps up with recent updates in technology, did not know about ANYTHING about something called Linux, except for this year when it was discussed in ITGS. However, I think that if Ubuntu does grow, and people can happily go and buy it as an operating system, I really think that it could threaten the futures of both Microsoft and Mac OS as a stronger and more successful operating system, and Michael Shuttleworth could easily become the new Bill Gates.

Ubuntu is quickly growing and is a leading competitor against Microsoft. At the moment Microsoft is what people are used to, its what they're comfortable with, so no matter how good a program is, it will take time for long time Microsoft users to make the change to Ubuntu. This is a newly developed operating system (which manages and controls hardware and software). Ubuntu is capable of handling complex programs; it could potentially compete with Microsoft and Mac OS. Microsoft has a monopoly over other operating systems because people are used to and rely on this operating system, its universal now and when there's no competition and without competition people are not motivated to create better and more efficient operating systems.

Linux and Ubuntu is an operating system that is rapidly growing and getting spread all around the world. its a new less expensive Operator, but the issue here is weather Linux and Ubuntu can provide secuirty and saftey like other operators. would it be able do handle complicated softwares and programes. can it be compared to Microsoft which controls around 95 % to the worlds Operating Systems. so its hard to show Competition with such a dominating Company.

Clearly this article shows how microsoft and other software programs need to adapt rapidly since new operating systems such as Linux and Ubunto are spreading around the world rapidly, since it is very advanced. For example I.B.M started using Ubunt for its basis in some programs. Though Linux and Ubunto are cheaper and easier to use user have to be aware of the risk since upgrading the program can cause malfunctions with the PC.

With Ubuntu being developed and showed that it is becoming free. Ubuntu can achieve the status of being like Microsoft with their operating systems. One issue here is reliability, though even though the operating system is free the risk of possible threats may occur in many ways. Healthy competition among these operating systems are giving consumer more choices to pick from.

The fact that the operating system linux is free clearly means that it will be more widespread...not only among customers but also among businesses that would now prefer to sell their laptops with linux rather than a widows to decrease their expenses. The spread of ubuntu is perhaps threatening the monopoly of microsoft over the pc world. the creator of linux aims to achieve equality of access and does this by competing against microsoft. there is always the questions of reliability and the gap between people and machines as linux seems to be more complex than the microsoft operating software.

There is a development of a competition here between Ubuntu and Bill Gates. The prices Ubuntu offers is better also the system is still underestimated. While Microsoft and Mac. is heading in a good direction it is a question whether Ubuntu is heading in the same direction or not? Since Ubuntu offers his one free it moves a step towards equality of access.

Linux and Ubuntu is becoming more poular and its spreading all over the world. One problem is that the equality of access doesnt seem to be suited for everyone, it can be too advanced and not everyone is used to the way it works. We know it is free, but they are not as good as the popular softwares ( Mac and Windows ). But this system is not as reliable as Mac or Windows. However, later on i think that it will become better than Mac and Windows if it develops

Linux and Ubuntu unlike the more common operating systems such as Microsoft windows and mac OS, is completely free. this would lead people to presume that it would be more common and more widely used than both of the operating systems. the issue of reliability is the main issue of operating systems recently the reliability of windows has been in doubt due to the huge amount of errors which do occur. however, even though Linux is free and seemingly more reliable it is still not as successful as both windows and mac OS.
